Foundation Art Course - Fundamental Form Drawing Part 01 .zip
In this set of videos, you will get 15 videos and one PDF, 10 drawing demonstrations of objects in 3D, dozens of demonstrations explaining the various primitive forms we draw, how to draw them and tips for making the drawing experience easier and more efficient. Content includes, different ways to use your drawing implements to control the pressure and the weight of your lines, exercises to improve dexterity and to build a stronger intuitive reflex in your mark making. We go through the primitives both as a shape language, and then as a form language. We learn how to draw the 5 most commonly used 3D primitives, and then we finish with how to apply them to common items for real world practice. This set also includes a comprehensive series of short videos on different warm up exercises you would use to help in your training, and a training schedule for the beginner that can be applied to any skill level.
FOUNDATION ART COURSE FORM DRAWING SERIES
Any form of 2D or 3D drawing has a fundamental foundation to it, starting with a very basic shape language that we eventually expand upon and develop into a highly complex structural matrix of information. This is the beginning steps of that foundation. These videos are very comprehensive, rich with objective commentary on how to draw as well as why. Understanding why we do the exercises we do, why we study basic form drawing when most of the subject matter we want to tackle is so complicated. If you follow the exercise format given and repeatedly practice the content on these videos, you will be armed with enough tools to tackle the complex and the imagined.
The videos are broken into two useful sections, you can start with either section, one does not really need to precede the other. The first section is on Primitive shapes and forms, covering how to work with each, demonstrating a quick and efficient approach without the need for vanishing points or other external tools.
The second section is all exercise based, demonstrating the process, and explaining how and why we do these exercises with some useful tips on how to hold the drawing tools and other shortcuts that make the learning process quicker.
I am also including a very simple .blend file you can open in Blender, a free open source 3D software, compatible with both PC and Mac. The file has a description built into the opening screen that explains how to use the forms that are included in the file. They are basic forms made of clear plastic with red guide lines on them to show their X Y Z axis, useful to draw from. They can be posed in any angle and used as a reference tool.
